Lake George
Lake George is the name of our pond. It's a small micro-habitat that we try to keep in good ecological balance.
Look closely and you might see the three goldfish or six tadpoles who live in the pond. There are two water lillies that provide good surface cover. (Fish can get sunburnt!) There are several marginal plans, some of which have lovely flowers. There are also water hyacinth and water lettuce, which filter the water. A small watercourse spills into the pond (when the pump is working) which provides aeration for the water.
This is our first water garden. It was easier and cheaper than we thought it would be! You might think of one yourself.
